The famous cronut and other original Dominique Ansel (so good #2, so good #7, so good #15) creations will shortly arrive in London. The chef has announced that he will open his eponymous bakery, Dominique Ansel Bakery London, towards the end of summer or the beginning of autumn 2016, on Elizabeth Street in Belgravia, close to Victoria.
“With each new place we go”, Ansel explains, “our team draws a huge amount of inspiration. This city not only gives us access to the ingredients across all of Europe, it will also be a chance for us to learn quite a bit along the way”. That is why, in his first bakery in Europe, he will carry a new line of London-only items, although one can also try some of the pastries that have made him famous. Among them is the cronut, the croissant-donut hybrid named “Best Inventions of 2013” by TIME magazine; DKA, the #1 best-seller in the NYC shop based on a traditional pastry from the Brittany region of France; the Cookie Shot, a warm chocolate chip cookie shaped like a shot glass and filled with ice-cold milk infused with Tahitian vanilla bean, or Frozen S’mores.
