The 2015 James Beard Awards acknowledges Christina Tosi and Jim Lahey
On May 4, the 2015 James Beard Awards were presented. Also known as the ‘Oscars of food’, all sectors of the food industry are acknowledged: chefs and restaurateurs, cookbook authors, food journalists, pastry chefs, bakers etc. …
2015 is also a historic date for these awards since they celebrate their 25th year. And for the first time, the gala was held in the city of Chicago at the Lyric Opera, although the chefs of the city have not been the best in the present edition.
Outstanding Pastry Chef went to Christina Tosi (Momofuku in New York), known for her creative elevation of American junk food (so good #7) and Outstanding Baker Award went to Jim Lahey (Sullivan Street Bakery in New York).
