Ana RodríguezOn February 18, the qualifying round in the UK and Ireland for the Cacao Barry World Chocolate Masters was held in Westminster Kingsway College in London.
The lucky winner who will participate in the final in Paris next October is Alistair Birt, a lover of chocolate from a very early age. Under the tutorage of Yolande Stanley MCA, he travelled across the UK and America visiting top industry names, which cumulated in him representing the UK in pastry at WorldSkills in Canada in 2009. Furthermore, he has been at William Curley for over five years and is responsible for all production, which includes chocolates, patisserie, baked goods, plated desserts and much more.
Alistair’s victory was resounding, since he not only reached the top of the podium, he also won three of the four individual awards: The Best Sweet Snack on the Go concept, Best Patisserie of the Day and Best chocolate showpiece.
Second place of this qualifying competition went to Richie Heppell and third place went to Mary Reid, who also won the individual award for Best Moulded Praline.
