Argentina, represented by Matías Dragún (chocolate candidate) and Lucas Carballo (sugar candidate), won the Americas selection of the Coupe du Monde de la Pâtisserie, which took place on Tuesday, June 11, in New Orleans. Paraguay and Colombia completed the podium in second and third place respectively. These three countries, along with the Wild Card, Chile, will compete in the grand final of the World Cup, to be held in Sirha Lyon in 2025.

Buffet Argentina

Dragún and Carballo, who already achieved third place in the last Americas selection in 2022, impressed the jury with a buffet around natural elegance. Among its proposals we find a frozen dessert that combines the fresh flavors of pineapple, raspberry, and lychee; a revisited cheesecake with raspberry and pistachio; and the restaurant dessert “Esencia Salvaje” that combines an intensely flavored chocolate soufflé with a mango-banana compote that gives a touch of exoticism.

During this qualifier, the six participating teams had to make three frozen desserts with fruit purees, three pastry pieces, eight chocolate restaurant desserts, two artistic pieces (one made of sugar and one made of chocolate), and a buffet with all the creations.

“I have great respect for all the work put in by the candidates, the courage they have to expose their skills, and having to turn months of training into such a short time. As a former winner, I also want to tell them to persevere, that they have to work hard and resist criticism to make their dreams come true,” says the honorary president, Ewald Notter.

It should also be noted that, although this selection was developed for the first time in the United States, this country has not had representation.
