Ana RodríguezThe third edition of the Panettone World Championship, organized by the Accademia Maestri del Lievito Madre e del Panettone Italiano, will be held between Verona and Milan from October 9 to 14. The big news is that it will no longer be an individual competition and will be played by national teams from countries such as Spain, Argentina, the United States, or Japan, which will be selected and nominated by professional schools identified by Consulates to the Accademia.
It is no coincidence that this year’s theme is Panettone around the World. This championship aims to promote the excellence of artisan panettone, comparing the different cultures of those who make this sweet from sourdough, a true identity factor that characterizes each local area.
As indicated in the bases, July 31 is the deadline to register. Each team must feature a classic Italian candied fruit panettone, a dark chocolate panettone, and an innovative savory panettone. The preparation of the panettones will take place between October 9 and 13 in Verona, while the tasting by the professional jury and the proclamation of the winners will take place on October 14 at Host Milano.
The jury will choose a winner for each category as well as an overall winner. There will also be six special prizes: Best Laboratory Organization; Best Housekeeping during preparation; Best Team Effort in Team Games; Best Table Presentation Display; Best Presentation Packaging – for Innovative Panettone only; and Best Presentation Brochure.
