Ana RodríguezThe European qualifier for the Coupe du Monde de la Pâtisserie, the European Pastry Cup, was held on June 10 at the Oval Lingotto Fiere in Turin (Italy). A competition in which there was a surprising win by
the Swedish team, consisting of Martin Morand (chocolate specialist) and Jessica Sandberg (sugar specialist), who convinced the jury with creations with “Mother Nature” as the theme. Belgium and Switzerland came in second and third place respectively. The three teams combined, scoring much higher than the other five teams, will travel to Lyon in 2019 to compete in the final, as well as Poland, which obtained a “wild card” thanks to its good performance.
Something new in this edition, in which we were able to be present, was that the kitchens of the contestants were open with 360º visibility for the spectators. A new feature that made the five hours of the championship even more exciting.
At the end of the month, after the African Cup, the 22 countries that will face each other in the Coupe du Monde de la Pâtisserie will be announced. As of today, we already know 18 countries.
