Young pastry chefs from 11 countries have an appointment at the 5th World Junior Pastry

Ana RodríguezOn 19 and 20 of January 2019, a group of pastry chefs, under the age of 23, will exhibit their talent in Sigep in the fifth edition of the World Junior Pastry Championship, a biennial event created by Roberto Rinaldini that gives the opportunity to young talents to put their skills to the test and find worthy inspiration for a successful and stimulating career.
In this edition, candidates from Australia, China, Croatia, the Philippines, France, India, Italy, Russia, Singapore, Slovenia, and Taiwan will participate. Each team, consisting of one manager (member of the international panel of judges) and two competitors, will have 17 hours to carry out seven tests around the theme of “Flight”: a chocolate showpiece, a small pastillage tray sculpture, different types of miniature pastries ,a sugar showpiece, four Valrhona chocolate cakes, 14 ice cream cups, and 16 coffee-based plated desserts.
A first place prize of 7000 € (including VAT) and a trophy, a second place prize of 5000 € (including VAT) and a trophy, and a third place prize of 3000 € (including VAT) and a trophy will be awarded, plus special awards will be given: Best Ice Cream Cup, Best Coffee-Based Plated Dessert, Best Miniature Pastry, Best Chocolate Cake, and Best Presentation Table.
