The most striking thing about the initiative is that the Asian chef and her team have set out to plant 1,000 cocoa trees throughout the country with the aim of making Singapore known for artisanal chocolate. An ambitious wish, as it is a notably land-scarce area and it currently imports 90% of its food.
“When you think about chocolate in Asia, people generally think of Vietnam, the Philippines, and Indonesia. I’ve always been fascinated by the adaptability and creativity of chocolate as a medium and a craft, and it will be a years-long project to eventually fulfill our dream of a true made-in-Singapore, bean-to-bar chocolate ” , assures the chef.
Pure Imagination is a multilayered space located in the Great World mall where customers can enjoy bean-to-bar chocolates, specialty coffees, and gastronomic offers in full view of the live chocolate production facility, which occupies a central location.
Currently in Pure Imagination you can taste chocolate made with cocoa beans that are obtained directly from farms in the Philippines, Ecuador, Thailand, Colombia, and Peru.
