Singaporean pastry chef Maira Yeo, with an eye for unusual detail, has been proclaimed Asia’s Best Pastry Chef 2022 by the World’s 50 Best Restaurants ranking.

Yeo has worked in some of the best kitchens in the world. After spending four years at Meta in Singapore, ranked number 20 in Asia’s 50 Best Restaurants 2022, she moved to Aska in New York City, then Patrice Demers in Montreal, and since July 2020 she’s been crafting dreamy creations at Cloudstreet in Singapore. At this establishment, known for Chef Rishi Naleendra’s heady combinations of Sri Lankan and Australian cuisine, she experiments with ethereal flavor mixtures.

During the pandemic, she created the ‘Covid Bakes Lah’ bake sale project to help her community. It started with a four-item menu but quickly expanded to meet high demand with fig and pomegranate hand pies, cracky chocolate brownies… Yeo donated 80% of the profits to two charities, HealthServe and the Umbrella Initiative, which support migrant workers and provide help to the homeless in Singapore.
