Pinocchio, a different Japanese bakery the color of bread crust
Author:
Ana RodríguezAt just 4.2 meters wide, the Japanese bakery Pinocchio catches the eye of those passing by with a gleaming design that features bread as the absolute star. Designed by the I IN studio, it has a strong identity and has been shortlisted in the Dezeen Awards 2020 in the small retail interior category.
The shop, the second of the Pinocchio brand, is located in front of Oguchi Station in Yokohama, Kanagawa Prefecture, and stands out because of its vivid gradients and smooth textures. The interior and exterior walls are lined with a textured material in a golden color reminiscent of the crust of fresh bread or a puff pastry croissant. Additionally, baked goods are displayed on minimalist wooden shelves, giving customers a sense of intimacy.
If we add the balanced combination of materials and the use of light, Pinocchio’s image is far removed from the traditional bakery which we are used to.
