Last Tuesday, March 23, chef Maurits van der Vooren passed away after fighting colon cancer for two years.

This young pastry chef, who in 2019 won the Dutch Pastry Award, was very popular on Instagram where he inspired the more than 65,000 followers with his vision, creativity, and work.

Born into a family that owns a chain of patisseries since 1918 and having trained as a chef, he worked in different restaurants in Holland with Michelin stars such as Latour and collaborated with food companies such as Dobla, showing his talent with chocolate decorations, desserts, and pastries.

Since 2017, he directed his own consultancy, Food Design by Maurits Van der Vooren, where he taught in different schools around the world and special assignments like the one we showed in so good # 22 with his colleague, Bart de Gans.
