Valrhona, certified with the B Corporation label
Author:
Ana RodríguezThe current health crisis is forcing companies to rethink economic models, lifestyles, and the future. Valrhona, aware of the importance of this transformation, cares for the planet and has been working for a fair and sustainable cocoa sector for many years. And now, after a rigorous process of almost three years, it has obtained the B Corporation certification that rewards the most committed companies in the world in terms of performance, transparency, and social and environmental responsibility.
80 points are required to obtain this seal. Valrhona has achieved 88.3 points thanks to various key points: 57% reduction in CO2 emissions related to the activity of the chocolate factory in Tain l’Hermitage, joint representation of men and women, 100% traceability of the cocoa beans, premiums to guarantee a fair income for cocoa producers, among other points.
To maintain certification, Varlhona will have to improve their score within three years. For this reason, several objectives have already been set, including achieving that its entire value chain be carbon neutral by the end of 2025 or actively seeking packaging that is sustainable while preserving the gustatory qualities of the products.
